The Manitoba Envirothon is an annual hands-on environmental education competition for high school students, designed to encourage team work, problem-solving skills, and public speaking skills while fostering an appreciation for current environmental issues.
Envirothon combines the exhilaration of team competition, the challenge of learning about environmental issues, and the experience of using this knowledge in hands-on activities. This approach to environmental education helps students develop skills necessary to address environmental issues, such as collaboration, critical thinking, and public debate.
The regional events are designed for students to come and learn for the day. Students and advisors will have the Envirothon experience without as large of a time commitment to studying the resource documents ahead of time. All teams must register and participate at the regional level to be eligible to advance to the provincial Envirothon; however, teams can choose to only attend the regional competition. The top-scoring team from each regional event will advance to the provincial event and the remaining teams will be selected by overall top score.
The regional events will take place the following days:
Teams choosing this stream will actively compete at the Regional level
and will be eligible to advance to the Provincial competition based on
their performance.
This non-competitive option allows teams to participate in the Regional
event for the educational experience, without the pressure of competition
These teams will not be eligible to move on to Provincials.
Teams are made up of 5 students, grades 9-12 and can be from mixed grades. Schools are welcome to register more than one team. Up to 2 teams can be registered through this registration page. If you would like to register more than 2 teams, please reach out and adjustments can be made. Teachers, please add yourselves as attendees so you will receive the waivers sent to ticket holders.
